Info

Our winter season begins in the end of November (depending on the weather conditions), and continues until April. Summer activities are available from June until the end of September.

All of the safaris are also available as private safaris. Please ask for an offer from our sales department. Guiding is done in Finnish and in English and wintertime also in French. We can provide guidance in other languages at an additional cost if it´s requested in advance.

As a responsible activity company, Club Nord reserves the right to cancel or change the route and the duration of the trip, if we feel that weather conditions or other factors pose a safety risk to staff and participants.

About the prices and activities:

The price includes: VAT and guiding, and in the wintertime outdoor winter clothing, required permits, insurances, fuel and transfers between our activity locations and Hotel Ivalo. For the husky and reindeer safaris it is 2 person/sled. All the participants of our safaris must inform our Club Nord office in advance, if they have any existing medical conditions, illnesses, injuries or allergies which may affect the ability to drive or take part in the trek. Unfortunately we don´t recommend snowmobile or husky safaris for pregnant women.

Some of our activities include snacks or meals, so please inform us beforehand by mail if you have any special dietary requirements

Instructions for the snowmobile safaris:

All drivers of snowmobiles need to be at least 18 years old and must have a valid driver´s licence with them on the safari. Drivers must not be under the influence of any alcohol or drugs.

Club Nord has an accident insurance that will cover medical expenses in the case of personal injury. However, in the case of damage to the snowmobile during an accident, drivers are personally liable for up to a maximum of 1200 €. Before the safari every driver is required to sign the personal liability form, accepting the 1200 € personal liability, confirming that he/she is in possession of a valid driver´s licence and confirming that he/she is not under the influence of any alcohol or drugs.

Before the safari begins, all drivers will be given a safety briefing by the guide and the instructions on how to operate and drive the snowmobile. While driving the drivers will follow the guide in a line, keeping a safe distance between other drivers.

Our snowmobile fleet consists of up to date models which are regularly maintained and run on environmentally friendlier four gear engines.

For snowmobile safaris there are 2 persons/snowmobile unless otherwise requested, in which case an additional single supplement is paid. If there is 2 persons in one snowmobile, they can switch drivers halfway through the trip.

During the snowmobile safaris, children under 12 years old will sit in a sled pulled by the guide.

Please note that if you wear spectacles, it is best to try and obtain disposable contact lenses before your trip. Spectacles will fog easily, impairing your vision, and the pressure from the helmet can also press them against your head or face causing discomfort over long periods.

Proper Winter Clothing:

Every participant will be given additional proper winter clothing to wear for the safari. It includes winter overalls, winter boots, a balaclava and a helmet.

We still hope that you come to Club Nord office dressed properly: start with a base layer which is lightweight, breathable and wicks away moisture from your skin. Avoid cotton, as it retains moisture and gets cold quickly. The best base layers are merino wool or synthetic wicking fabrics. Wear a warm mid-layer, ideally a woolen knitted sweater or fleece. If you are particularly sensitive to the cold, we recommend wearing a thin down jacket or down vest under the winter overall that we give you. Bring a scarf or other neck warmer to prevent cold air getting in through the neck of your winter overall.

Bring your own warm driving gloves. It is very important that the fingers are close to each other so please don´t use gloves where the fingers are separate.

Luggage or other personal items that are not needed during the safari can be stored at the Club Nord office. Small items that you might want to take with you, such as cameras, phones, snacks, medication and/or a warm hat, can be kept in small backpack which you can wear during the safari.
